The time has come to start my pre collection. My initial theme I have chosen is based around Contour lines , deciding this theme is great to explore shape relating to the body and to fabric drape, seeing how I can manipulate the fit and flow of the garments. It is an exciting start and I cant wait to develop my designs into garments. Here are a few snap shots of the direction I begun to take my research in...
Those who inspire me and ones who I may go on to inspire creating a circle of creativity. I am now third year Fashion design student Studying at Winchester School of Art,through finding my feet in my first year and realising my unknowing passion for fashion I have chosen to focus on womens wear. So why not follow my blog as I expand my skills and Knowledge and share my experiences on the forever changing and truly fascinating industry.

I was influenced by the old fashion paper doll clothes. I have also done my illustration photos which I will then adapt in photoshop and illustrator. In this style connectioning the ideas from the Peter Jensen collection combining both 2D with the 3D.
Flickr is a great source to finding images of the paper dolls clothes,

The beginning of Barbie, Bettina Graziani
Ok so you know my project outline, now to see my chosen Muse, the title gives it away a little, Yes thats right I chose the 1950's style Barbie. I loved this researchis was great fun bring back so many memories of my childhood, which I think is a key element I want my final garment to reflect. Though I wanted to ensure my outfit and collection had more depth and a strong stable theme. Therefore through my research of Barbie I found out that Bettina Graziana a great french model during the 1950's influenced many including the Barbie image.
Bettina Has such a beautiful elegance about her it the photographs capturing the romance of Paris and the style and class of the 1950's.
With this being reflected in my shape and silhouette garment construction The barbie aspect I am hoping to incorporate in the colour schemeand my fabric choices.
A great book for seeing the different Barbie trends over the years which I found very useful for information and images is called: Barbie, Her Life and Times.

I love this initiative photoshoot combining 3D with 2D, it's a real quirky eye catching way to bring a look book, stable photograph alive, and off the page.

The reason I selected this collection is because I feel it shows the fun playful side to Peter Jensen designs with the comical photoshoot, stylized accessory and bold colour popping print.
Want to have a more indepth look and reason find out what Petter Jensen's collections and company is about why not visit their website yourself:

My Summer Trip to Crete
Hey lads and ladies,
I know it has been a while but I have been busy relaxing as I took a trip to Crete. What can I say it was a beautiful island with a pinch of paradise. Whilst I enjoyed lying in the sun I found time to explore side streets to uncovering hidden treasures the Greek island has to offer.
I love there values and traditions passed down through generations, keeping hold of history and heritage in the fast moving 21st century I believe if you know where you came from and who you are it can make for a better future.

Look close and you will see the beauty of Crete around every corner, Its in the stone work, the craftsmanship, the natural habitat, the nature of life and also the culture. Words are not needed as they can not describe, just see it in their smiles, hear it in their laughs and watch it as they walk. It can be a shout and a whisper, seen among the mountains and across the sea, even through the olive trees which live to serve for over 400 years.
Whilst I was there for my short visit the sandy brushed colours and rough textures caught my attention , pretty with an unfinished edge.

How to Write My Story......
I have recently come back from a 5 day camping trip at Momentum held in Somerset yearly, I have had a fabulous time one i could share with good friends fall of laughs and inspiration times, it is a growing Christian event with around five thousand young adults attending . Though I could sit here and talk your ear off about the complete 5 days there is just one particular thought and realisation I grasped, it has opened my eyes to how my faith and creative world can interlink to form my story one real, personal, strong and hopefully influential both in my faith and as a designer.
To your left:
Proverbs 3 verses 5-6
Below: Luke 11 verse 9
Glamping For God?
This is the beginning of a new chapter as I have been technically been writing my story for the last 20 years. The aspect I have often pondered on in my faith is how to make it relevant in my day to day life with my ambitions and career goals as I frequently felt confused to how fashion was in God plan and how Me doing that could bring anything to his kingdom. My view has now changed with a fresh understanding that we are not measure on how Godly our job is but how we can use our opportunities to reach to others giving a caring ear hand to offer reflecting our faith and the best way to do that is through our personal gifts, skills and love which we have been given.
So I can go on doing what I have a passion for whilst staying connected to God its an inner strength I have found in my dreams and desires and directing me forward. Creativity is a gift to be shared and expressed.
One of my friends Rachel Seymour was there during Momentum and she revealed one creative inspired format to speak the words....
...when you have moment of no words of your own to share, Have a peek!!
