The Art of Marbling

Over this past weekend I have found myself going down memory lane as I started thinking about my final major project collection, carrying on from my pre-collection theme I want to expend the contour theme one direction I may take it in, is by manipulating fabric using a marbling print.
I remember marbling paper as a child as a craft activity with my older sister Claire. Now I have turned my sitting room into a fine art printing studio with my friend Naomi to explore this Marbling method once again.

First of all we researched what we needed and the steps to creating marble art on paper, here are just a few of how they came out.

The patterns are creatively random based on movement in the water before placing the paper though there is a little thought into how I would like the colours to mix and inner act. These are a few of my favorites with the small detailing from the ink reacting with the                               water.

Because I like the look of our paper prints I simple tried the same on fabric to see what it came out like not even thinking about fixing to the actual fabric yet however it worked quite well for the first attempt and has seem to fix onto the fabric it's self, however when I choose to develop this I will look into fixing correctly.

Photoshoot

It is important when photographing garments of fashion that they execute to perfection the image and style of the collection and of course the construction and design skills in the outfits.

Contour - The line of the land, a figure of curves, lining a silhouette, linking a story.

My contour line as a designer is still evolving, I believe that is the way it should be! It is the designers responsibility and desire to pursue the new and fresh, design and construction.

As my Pre- collection has developed my designs have come together influencing my over all style and image for this collection, creatively translating  my two outfit through my:

Story board

Line Up
Spec drawings

These are technical drawings showing details on the garments such as fastenings, stitch lines, shape.
I have done spec's for each garments compiling my outfit collection.

Photograph Board

Following the style through whilst revealing my final two garments I have constructed.

These are just small sampling from the photo shoot, wait one more day to feast your eyes on my favourites.

photoshoot inspiration

Nearing the end of each project I really start to consider the direction I wish to take the photoshoot in and how I would like to display my final outfits. To help me achieve a complete look and style I compile a collection of research considering make-up ideas, poses, the atmosphere in the setting and light which I then build upon and interpret into my photoshoot.
Below are a few images I pulled inspiration from:

swansea Life Magazine- Model Catherine Corry.

I love the use of make in the first two images. Simple with a statement lip stick, very effective with a classy yet effortless appearance. The one on the right I have just highlighted the lips even more as it is the accents I and interested in applying to my own shoot.

The relaxed atmosphere follows through the pose as you can see on the left.

These few images I found on other blogs of interest, I feel they also portray this effortless yet empowering style. mixing harsh bold lines or colour with nude or natural tones.

For Poses and placing of the models I wanted to capture the forms or shapes seen through out my research and designs reflecting smooth lines, curvaceous silhouettes, joining the body to the drape or movement of the garments.

please feel free to comment on my photos when I share them with you, let me know if you feel what I say to day has be revealed or executed in the photoshoot results.

Interpretation of Contour lines

Tony Cragg Is a fabulous Artist one who is also accomplished in the work he creates, I came across his recently whilst research for my pre-collection.
I was drawn to his recent work of sculptures the and felt it reflected an idea of contour lines I hadn't considered before now one which was structural and 3D.

These to are quite tactile  and organic which I naturally love.

Whilst these two sculptures hold similar, principles and concepts they portray a contemporary look with the pop colours with the fresh curves and minimalist moulds. A manmade product, the opposite to the couple above with
this synthetic appearance.

I cant wait to continue with this research and adapting in my pre-collection and then developing the influence and concepts further in my final major collection challenge my design ideas and theories.

Why not see more his work and decide for yourself.
